Del.icio.us has been having some troubles these days, and the social bookmarking site have been down for some long hours — very long for all the del.icio.us addicts like me.
Fortunately its health seems back again and we can all resume our frenetic del.icio.us’ activities ;-).
Hopefully Yahoo! will give them a hand and means to avoid downtime and fight against disaster.
Beside the inherent fact that they should have a disaster recovery, should the user also be prepared and have a contingency plan? I mean have an alternative solution to having all its bookmarks on one unique online site.
In my case I’ll give a try to the Foxylicious extension for Firefox:
Foxylicious is a Mozilla Firefox extension that syncs your del.icio.us bookmarks into your browser bookmarks.
With this extension, you can sync your del.icio.us bookmarks into your browser local bookmarks. Entries are placed in folders whose names are your tags. This way, in the case of del.icio.us being unavailable, I’ll still be able to use my bookmarks (if not all, almost all of them till the last sync).
